You know, there's something about Evangelion fanfics that I just realized. All of them make an attempt at fixing the ending or make Shinji "more badass" as it were... But what if the ending instead had one slight alteration.

Following congratulations, Shinji grows to appreciate himself... for realizing his utter hatred of everyone else and their own hypocrisy?
